Meet Me In St. Louis is a classic musical theatre production based on the beloved 1944 movie. It takes place the year before the opening of the 1904 St Louis World’s Fair. The Smith Family children learn lessons of life and love, as they prepare for a reluctant move to New York. Esther, played by Leta Marcellus, sings the holiday classic “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” to little sister Tootie, played by Annabelle Gillins, making this musical a holiday treat for the entire family. Also featured as Smith children are Gus Reynolds as oldest brother Lon and Aleja Quinn as older sister Rose. Evelyn Blomquist rounds out the siblings playing Agnes. The show is brought to life with many musical numbers performed by a 30 member ensemble composed of local students and adults. The cast members volunteer their time and talents to enhance the production. Directed and choreographed by Karen McKenney, the show is rich with period styling of the early 20th Century.
Kris Van Riper’s set includes a delightfully functional house, that opens and closes for interior and exterior scenes in the home. Mariya Radeva-Nedyalkova has designed the period costumes, jody Caley is the lighting designer and Joel Ruud is the sound designer.
